Well done to the Year 8 indoor athletics teams on Tuesday night. Both teams gave 100 per cent effort during every one of their events. Well done to the boys’ team, who finished fifth, but huge congratulations to the girls' team who finished first to be crowned champions!
It was a fantastic performance from the Year 8 boys’ rugby team who won a war of attrition 42-20 in freezing temperatures away at Dewsbury’s Manor Croft Academy in the Yorkshire Cup.
The boys really stuck together with some fantastic defence and set completions late on. The team started brightly with Charlie D diving over after a great pick-up after a home team error. Jacob B then powered over to score the first of his six tries.
Both teams then traded consecutive tries after errors in tough conditions with the boys going in with a 20-10 half-time lead.
The boys then had to defend tough after Jacob B had scored early in the second half. The home team threw everything at them to get back on level terms.
However, they stood fi rm and after some great set completion Jacob B again waltzed in before Ethan H sealed the victory. #TeamHolderness
