About Coronavirus (COVID-19)

COVID-19: guidance for education settings

NHS East Riding of Yorkshire CCG

Following the latest Government advice, we would like to remind parents that:

  • Children should stay at home if they are unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature to avoid spreading infection to others. Otherwise they should attend school as normal.
  • If children become unwell on site with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature they should be sent home.
  • If one person in any household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living there must stay at home for 14 days.

Please also see the latest advice with regards to young people who may be at more risk. The latest guidance from the NHS states that this is anyone under 70 with an underlying health condition listed below. The recommendation is that these people are particularly stringent in following social distancing measures.

There are some health conditions which put people at even higher risk of severe illness from Covid-19. For these, you should rigorously follow the social-distancing advice in full. These are:

  • People who have received an organ transplant and remain on ongoing immunosuppression medication
  • People with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy or radiotherapy
  • People with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia who are at any stage of treatment
  • People with severe chest conditions such as cystic fibrosis or severe asthma (requiring hospital admissions or courses of steroid tablets)
  • People with severe diseases of body systems, such as severe kidney disease (dialysis)

If you determine that your child falls into any of the above categories, we would completely support your decision for them to remain absent from school.

Learners Entitled To A Free School Meal

We are pleased to announce that we have linked up with a company called Wonde, which has enabled us to create an electronic free school meal voucher. Wonde will be sending an email or text containing a link to those that are entitled to Free School Meals.

Clicking on the link will allow you to select a supermarket of your choice. A voucher is then shown which can be taken in-store or spent online. The first voucher you will receive will be £23.00 for each child eligible for free school meals in your family on roll at Holderness Academy. This equates to an allowance of £2.30 each day for 10 days from Monday 23 March to Friday 3 April. The voucher does not have to be spent all in one go.
