Holderness Academy Celebrating Pride Month

LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honour the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, the protests that changed gay rights for many people around the world.

Here at Holderness Academy and Sixth Form College we would like to mark Pride Month ourselves in support of LGBT+ educators and students around the world, to honour the struggles that people have endured throughout the generations and to raise awareness of those that are still struggling in their fight for equality.

Around this time of year this would usually be a big topic of discussion in the Academy with the end of term looming and Hull Pride, which has sadly been cancelled due to the COVID19 restrictions. In light of this we have produced some resources (please click here) to show support for Pride, information on Homophobic Bullying and Rights and Laws surrounding LGBT+ issues.
