Our super value-added results and A level grades mean that around 80% of students progress to the university of their choice. We regularly achieve 100% pass rate in our A level and BTEC subjects. Studying with us provides you with the opportunity of achieving the best possible grades and following in the footsteps of our previous students who have achieved places at top universities to study for degrees in Medicine, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Midwifery, Chemical Engineering, Computing, Engineering, Social Work and other competitive fields.
You can study the subjects that work for you
With a wide variety of subjects to choose from, ranging from A-levels to Level 3 BTEC Diplomas, you can pick the subjects you want to study and meet your aspirations.
Due to our experienced staff and large departments we can offer you a wide range of choices to meet a huge range of progression opportunities. You can pick any combination of subjects that best suits you.
Our courses are taught by qualified, subject specialist teachers. They have a wide range of backgrounds and expert knowledge in their field with many of them being examiners (or having previously been examiners) so have first-hand knowledge of how to achieve great exam results.
A mature environment
You will be expected to work hard, but you will have all the support you need in order to achieve your goals. It will be expected that you approach your studies in a mature fashion and you will develop independence and resilience during your time with us, best preparing you for university or work.
As a student you will be dealt with as a mature adult. All our staff and students work in this way, meaning everyone within the sixth form is committed to achieving the best possible results and gaining personal success.
Your dedicated support team!
We will support you every step of the way. From the transition from GCSE to the first year of Sixth Form, or the backing of your applications to university or employment, we are dedicated to getting you where you want to be.
You will have your own tutor to provide one-to-one support and guidance and a team of professional and knowledgeable advisors to help you plan your next careers steps. Your personal wellbeing and academic performance will be supported throughout your time with us. We have an assigned member of the Sixth Form team who is experienced in emotional and well-being support.
We can offer our students a travel bursary if travel costs are likely to be a barrier that stops you being able to study with us. Ask us for more information about this (terms and conditions apply).
A real community
Without doubt, our Sixth Form has a real community feel. Students support one another in achieving success. Staff listen to and work with students as adults. This nurturing environment makes a real difference in our Sixth Form experience. Students perform well because they feel safe, supported and enjoy their time here.
As well as having buses available across our catchment area, we also have two buses that run through Hull. We can support students with transport bursaries (terms and conditions apply) which subsidise each single journey bus trip to around 50p.
There is also extensive car parking available across the site. Sixth formers can obtain a parking permit allowing them free parking.
Each year in November we open our doors to prospective students and their parents. This is an informal evening where you have the opportunity to walk around our Sixth Form site, view our facilities and talk with individual members of staff.
Every subject is represented by a member of staff who can guide and advise you about what you will learn and how you will be assessed. A-level programmes are going through significant change at the moment, so it is very helpful to be able to speak with an expert in their field.
Also on hand throughout the evening is our pastoral and careers team who are able to share valuable insights and knowledge to help you through the decision making process!
November is the key month when thoughts of applying to sixth form start to take shape. Straight after the Open Evening, students can make an application to formally join the Sixth Form.
Between the months of November and February students will make their application to join the Sixth Form. From March onwards external applicants from other schools and colleges are welcome to apply.
We will consider everyone’s application on merit and will interview every applicant to carefully discuss their options and future ambitions.
