Year 10 |
The OCR Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing offers a range of skills and knowledge to learners on the course, both in theory and in a practical sense. The course focuses on key topics within enterprise, marketing and business, and therefore offers a chance to develop these skills further at Key Stage 5. The course is split into 3 sections; RO64 (exam), RO65 (coursework), and RO66 (coursework). Split into three core sections, the qualification gives learners a good grounding in business theory and the development of key exam skills such as knowledge, application, analysis and evaluation in RO64. Learners will be coached on how to answer a range of questions styles, such as multiple choice, short answer questions, data response and longer exam style questions. Starting on RO65, learners will then be expected to show their understanding of key topics by applying them to a given case study, and making decisions based on a given business situation. This is done in a coursework style, and gives learners further skills in independent learning, time management and the ability to interpret and meet coursework criteria. |
Year 11 |
In Year 11 the OCR Cambridge National in Enterprise and Marketing allows students to continue to develop their business proposal for RO65 by building upon and applying more of the theory covered in Year 10. Students will be required to create a product design, demonstrating an understanding of the stages of product development; designing to user requirements, reviewing and modifying. Students will also be required to apply their understanding of finance to their business proposal, by calculating costs, revenue, profit and break even. For RO66, students will move onto the marketing element of their business proposal, and will be required to create a brand identity and a promotional plan for their product. This is the third part of the course and allows students the chance to personalise their business concept further, as well as learning new skills in relation to presenting and planning a professional pitch. The conclusion of the course focuses around the delivery of their final presentation, followed by a review of the process, identifying strengths and weaknesses, along with ways to improve the pitch and their business proposal.
The topics and work done on this course link well with A-Level Business Studies or with BTEC Level 3, which would both allow learners to develop their understanding of key business topics further. |
