  Maths 
Year 7 To explore all the areas of maths and develop knowledge to solve problems in new areas. By the end of year 7 to have an understanding of the basics including: Factors, Multiples, Primes, the 4 Operations, Expanding Brackets, Simplifying, Solving Equations, Substitution, Finding Missing Angles, Area, Perimeter, Averages, Bar Charts, Line Graphs and Pie Charts. 
Year 8 To build and revisit the skills and knowledge learned in year 7, taking it a step further. To be able to problem solve and collaborate with other learners explaining a variety of methods that could be used. To have knowledge of HCF, LCM, Prime Factor Decomposition, Rules of Indices, Solving Equations, Plotting Graphs, Volume, Transformations and Pythagoras. 
Year 9 To build on and develop the mathematical skills learned in year 7 and 8. To be a leader in the way we explain topics, questioning what we have learned and being able to explain answers clearly. To have a concrete understanding of Surds, Bounds, Error Intervals, SOHCAHTOA, Histograms, Cumulative Frequency and Box Plots. 
Year 10

Higher - To be fluent and confident at all areas of the higher GCSE math topics ready for a revision programme in Year 11. 

Crossover - To be fluent and confident at the grade 1-5 topics at GCSE maths. To have knowledge of the grade 6-9 topics at GCSE Maths, ready to begin the Year 11 revision programme. 

Foundation - To be fluent and confident at the basics of mathematics and be consistent at answering grade 1 - 3 exam questions. To have understanding of the grade 4 - 5 topics, ready to revise and develop exam skills during Year 11. 

Year 11

Higher - Students in Year 11 will develop a consistent and fluid understanding of all areas within GCSE Mathematics. Students will be able to retain knowledge, apply it to different situations and be able to Problem Solve. Students will be able to communicate their understanding verbally and through written communication. 

Foundation - Students in Year 11 will develop a consistent and fluid understanding of all areas within GCSE Mathematics. Students will be able to retain knowledge, apply it to different situations and be able to Problem Solve. Students will be able to communicate their understanding verbally and through written communication. 

Year 12  The aims and objectives of this qualification are to enable students to Understand mathematics and mathematical processes in a way that promotes confidence, fosters enjoyment and provides a strong foundation for further study or to create career opportunities. 
Year 13 The aims and objectives of this qualification are to enable students to Understand mathematics and mathematical processes in a way that promotes confidence, fosters enjoyment and provides a strong foundation for further study or to create career opportunities.
